FAQ
The questions everyone asks.
The boring practical stuff, answered once so we don't have to email it back fifty times. If your question isn't here, send it over.
Are the tents pet-friendly?
Mistletoe is dog-friendly up to two dogs (no aggressive breeds, no cats). $50/dog/stay. Shangri La is currently dog-free so guests with allergies have an option. Ask before booking and we'll match the tent to your situation.
Is there a kitchen or do we cook outside?
Both. The kitchenette inside has a mini-fridge, microwave, induction burner, drip coffee, kettle, dishes for two. The deck has a six-burner gas grill. Closest grocery is a 12-minute drive; the closest sit-down dinner is 8 minutes away.
What's actually included with the stay?
Linens, towels (bath + beach), starter coffee, paper goods, dish soap, hot tub heated and chemicals managed, firewood for the fire pit, use of kayaks, paddleboards, beach chairs, and umbrellas. You bring food and a swimsuit.
Is the cove swimmable? Is there a dock?
Yes — sand beach, gradually deepening, perfect for wading and swimming. The dock is a shared neighbor dock; guests are welcome on the part of it that's on our property. The cove itself sees almost no boat traffic.
How do I book both tents (buyout)?
Select "Both tents (Buyout)" on the booking page, or just email us. For buyouts we sometimes throw in late checkout and an extra fire pit setup at the beach.
What's the weather like, and when's the best time to come?
May through October is peak. The tents are fully insulated and air-conditioned — summer is comfortable. October on the lake is the locals' favorite. We stay open year-round; winter rates are about 25% lower.
Can we book direct? Why would we?
Yes — through the book page. Booking direct skips the Airbnb / Vrbo service fee (usually 14–18%). Same tent, same hosts, same hot tub.
